Implantable Loop Recorders (ILR)
An ILR is a tiny implantable device that your doctor may have requested if your symptoms are infrequent. It is implanted just under the skin and records your heart rate and rhythm.
It has a battery and usually last for approximately three years.
Pre-admission
- You can eat and drink as normal prior to this appointment. You may bring a family member or friend if you wish.
On the day of your procedure
- You will be asked to report to Holly Suite where the team will be expecting you.
- Please arrive at 11am ready for your afternoon procedure
Immediately after your procedure
- Wound care
- It is important to keep your wound clean and dry after the procedure. You can have a shower but please do not soak in the bath until the wound is healed.
