Surgery

Our  cardiac surgery unit remains one of the busiest in the country, ranking second in the latest National Cardiac Benchmarking Collaborative (NCBC).

The unit sees the second highest number of adult cardiac cases, treating just under 2,000 patients per year, including planned and emergency cases. Due to the continued demand for surgical services at LHCH, the aortic and cardiac consultant team are being expanded in 2016/17 to support the unit in providing quality and timely care for patients accessing our leading edge services.

We have one of the largest and busiest lung surgical units in the country. We provide a complete tertiary service to the surrounding region with respect to all types of lung surgery, with the exception of transplantation.
