Patients recognise LHCH as one of the country's top hospitals
Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital has once again been recognised as one of the best hospitals in the country, according to the results of this year’s Care Quality Commission (CQC) National Adult Inpatient Survey 2025.
The survey, published on August 26th 2026, showed that LHCH was in the top six trusts in the country for ‘overall patient experience’.
LHCH was also recognised as one of the top three trusts in the country for the following three sections of the survey:
- Section 2: Hospital and Ward – 3rd in the country
- Section 6: Your care and treatment – 3rd in the country
- Section 7: Individual needs – 2nd in the country
Furthermore, LHCH received a 60% response rate – significantly higher than the average response rate of 38% nationally.
Patients were asked for their views on various aspects of their care, with trusts then listed in one of seven categories - from ‘much better than expected’ down to ‘much worse than expected’ - based on the proportion of patients who responded positively compared to the average. LHCH was rated 'much better than expected' and 'better than expected' in every survey section.
Jonathan Mathews, Hospital Chief Executive, said: “Whilst feedback in the survey is overwhelmingly positive, and reflects the quality of care and professionalism of staff across LHCH, it’s also important for us to look at the detail and see where there are areas we can make further improvements for our patients and families in future.”
The report summarised the experiences of more than 58,139 patients from 130 acute and specialist NHS trusts who spent at least one night in hospital during November 2025.
