New region-wide educational leadership appointments
From October 2024, North West School of Radiology, aka NWSOR or the deanery - the regional stakeholder responsible for the clinical radiology training in the North West of England - has appointed two LHCH Consultants as cardiac and chest subspecialty co-leads - Dr Linu Kuruvilla and Dr Monika Radike.
The roles and responsibilities of these posts include:
- revising and tailoring of the subspecialty training curriculum
- organising cardiac and chest training for the academy cohorts
- organising teaching sessions, including occasional off-academy site teaching days such as focused teaching days at LHCH and other Trusts
- preparing teaching and training material
- delivering teaching and training.
The radiology department at LHCH has a track record of 8 years of continuous improvement of training quality in the Trust and beyond, establishing clinical and visiting fellowships, including international and subspecialty society collaborations (such as ESOR) and becoming one of the desired places to rotate and train in.
Dr Radike and Dr Kuruvilla said: "We believe LHCH is in a great position to further foster a good, diverse and respectful learning environment and lead cardiothoracic imaging training in the North West. We are excited to direct our experience, skills and energy towards the goal of developing future radiologists.
"We are also very grateful to all the department, other clinical teams and management for their cooperation and support in delivering this important task."
