Gold Status for Cardio-Oncology Service

We are delighted to share that the cardio-oncology service, established in 2019 by LHCH and The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, has been awarded gold status as a Centre of Excellence from the International Cardio-Oncology Society.

To achieve this the team had to demonstrate our local and national clinical caseload, publication output, educational offerings, quality improvement projects and committee involvement.

Dr Rebecca Dobson, Consultant Cardiologist (Imaging & Cardio-Oncology) & Clinical Lead for Cancer at LHCH, spoke of this fantastic achievement:

“The LHCH Cardio-Oncology Service is only 5 years old so to receive international recognition with the highest accolade possible is incredibly gratifying. We are one of only 3 centres in the UK to obtain this accreditation and I am tremendously proud of the entire team who constantly go above and beyond for our patients, providing outstanding cardio-oncology care.“

Dr Vijay Rao,Chair of the International Cardio-Oncology (IC-OS) Center of Excellence Committee, said: "The leadership of IC-OS congratulates you and your program on your successful application for an IC-OS Center of Excellence designation. Your application was reviewed in detail and the content was outstanding.  We are excited to inform you that your program received the designation: Gold status."
