Cath Labs Set to Officially Open

LHCH is delighted that following three years of construction work, its Catheter Laboratories (Cath Labs) redevelopment project will officially open in early 2024.

The redevelopment has enabled a significant upgrade on the existing facilities to introduce six state-of-the-art, modern, safe Cath Labs for the delivery of outstanding patient care.

The layout of the new facility was designed with patients, their families and staff in mind, whilst vital areas have been incorporated within the build to improve patient experience and enhance the Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PPCI) service, which provides emergency and often life-saving treatment for patients who have experienced a heart attack.

New areas in the build include a forward wait to maintain patient dignity, a relatives' room and butterfly suite (a private room for the families of end of life patients).

The completion of the project has been made possible thanks to the work of many LHCH colleagues - some of whom have truly gone above and beyond to deliver an outstanding, new facility for patients, families and clinical staff.
