  • Did you feel able to talk to members of hospital staff about your worries and fears?

Patients were asked for their views on various aspects of their care, with trusts then listed in one of seven categories - from ‘much better than expected’ down to ‘much worse than expected’ - based on the proportion of patients who responded positively compared to the average.

Sue Pemberton, Director of Nursing, Safety and Quality at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, said: “It’s important we acknowledge every patient who took time to share feedback about their care at LHCH – we are very grateful. It’s also important for us to listen to our patients to understand if there are areas where we can further improve their care and treatment. As a Trust we continually look to improve our services, and therefore this feedback from is invaluable.

“Every single member of our team at LHCH aims to give the best care to our patients and families, and therefore for this year’s survey to reflect this, is very pleasing.”

Jane Tomkinson, Chief Executive, added: “We are very proud of these results. It’s pleasing to know that patients have experienced such good care at LHCH, and we are equally pleased to know they place so much confidence in the teams giving them care.

“This is something we will never take for granted, and is a result of our outstanding culture and teamwork at LHCH.”

The report, published on Wednesday 13th September 2023, summarised the experiences of more than 63,000 patients from 133 acute and specialist NHS trusts who spent at least one night in hospital during November 2022.
