Industrial Action - Advice for Patients

It has been confirmed that industrial action, in the form of strike action, will take place at NHS organisations, including LHCH, on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21st December.

Our key focus is on providing safe care for patients who need urgent and emergency services, and those receiving inpatient care.

If you have an appointment planned for 20th/21st December

Unless otherwise advised directly by the hospital, all patients are asked to attend appointments at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital as normal. You do not need to contact the hospital. Anyone whose appointments or care may be impacted will be contacted directly by the hospital.

Any LHCH patient whose hospital appointment has been impacted by industrial action will be contacted by our teams to reschedule a new date as soon as possible.

If you have an appointment planned for 28th December

Due to industrial action impacting ambulance services on this day, if you have an appointment at LHCH on 28th December and require patient transport we advise to:

  • Check in advance as limited patient transport services will be provided by NWAS on the day, or
  • Arrange alternative transport to LHCH, or
  • Contact the team at LHCH for further advice.

If you need medical care or advice

Please visit NHS 111 Online or call the NHS 111 helpline.

Please contact NHS 111 if:

  • You need medical help fast, but it's not a 999 emergency.
  • You don't know who to call for medical help or you don't have a GP to call.
  • You think you need to go to A&E or another NHS urgent care service; or.
  • You require health information or reassurance about what to do next.

Our emergency services remain open for those who need urgent care during this period.

We will keep this page updated with the latest information.
