Wear Red Day 2015

Heart disease continues to be one of the biggest killers in the UK and the communities we serve here at LHCH are marked by higher levels of heart failure, coronary artery disease and increased prevalence of cardiovascular disease… therefore we need your help.

Whoever you are, wherever you work or live, and however old or young you are, you can ‘Go Red’ and get involved.

We’re asking you to show your support by:

  • going red on Wear Red Day, Friday 6th February
  • raising awareness of the importance of heart health
  • donating to our Hospital Appeal and our ongoing research projects
  • hosting your own ‘Red Event’ in support of our Appeal
  • encouraging others to Go Red on the 6th Feb!

If you need help in holding your own event, whether it be a simple cake sale, quiz, raffle or dress down day, let us know and we’ll be happy to support you.

Please contact our Appeals Office on 0151 600 1409 or email robyn.sefton@lhch.nhs.uk

Did you know?

A damaged heart can affect your life by interfering with enjoyable activities and even your ability to do simple things, such as taking a walk or climbing steps. Heart disease cannot be 'cured'. It is a lifelong condition—once you get it, you’ll always have it. Fortunately, it’s a problem you can do something about. Find out your risk for heart disease and take steps to prevent and control it. Start taking action today to protect your heart.

By doing just 4 things - eating right, being physically active, not smoking and keeping a healthy weight - you can significantly reduce your risk of heart disease.

If you are concerned that you may be at risk from heart disease and stroke please contact your GP.  Alternatively for more information on the risks and effects of heart disease log onto www.nhs.uk
