5000th Covid Vaccine at LHCH

Earlier today, the 5,000th person received their first vaccine injection since LHCH opened the doors to its Covid-19 vaccination hub less than 3 weeks ago.

Jenine Cryle, from Stockbridge Village, has worked as a paramedic for West Midlands Ambulance Service for the past four years. She was thrilled to finally receive her jab from LHCH critical care nurse, Soraya Campbell, and Jenine also received a complimentary bouquet of flowers for being the 5,000th person!

Speaking about the vaccine and what it means to her, Jenine said: “With the nature of my work as a paramedic, I’ve seen first-hand the devastating impact that it has had on lots of people’s lives.

I also had it myself last year, but thankfully I was able to return to work and do the job that I love – caring for people who need us.

“I’m really grateful to have my first jab as it will help to protect myself and my family, and it’s pleasing to know that every day, hundreds of other people are getting their first jab at Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital.”

“It was such a lovely surprise to receive the flowers and the whole vaccination process has been really smooth and the staff have been lovely.”

Robin Wiggs, LHCH vaccine lead, was pleased to present Jenine with some flowers to mark the milestone.

He said “Everyone involved with the vaccine service at LHCH is proud to have reached this first milestone, and to have played a part in making our colleagues and some of the patients they care for a bit safer. We’ve increased our daily capacity for appointments and look forward to reaching our 10,000th vaccination soon."

Over recent weeks, a dedicated vaccination team at LHCH has been delighted to vaccinate patients, frontline health and social care workers from its local communities, people aged 70+ as well as its own staff.
