What are the next steps after the programme has finished in my area?

Please be aware the Lung Cancer Screening team will book interval (follow up) for those with findings such as lung nodules. These interval scans could be at 3, 6, 9, 12, 24 months dependant on the patient’s clinical need.

For those with normal or non-significant incidental will have a repeat scan at 24 months, and then scan cycles will continue every 24 months until the patient has aged out of the programme. 

The Lung Cancer Screening Programme is currently being rolled out in certain parts of England. Initially it was offered in areas with the highest lung cancer mortality rates. It is expected to be available nationally by 2025-26.

 

How will the GP practice receive patient letter and reports?

For GP practices using EMIS, all communication will be forwarded by EMIS-EMIS Documents Sharing.

All other practices will receive communication from the service via secure nhs email or post.

 

How can I view the patients CT report and their Lung Health Check records?

Yes, you can view your patient’s CT report and Lung Cancer Screening consultation via the shared record on EMIS and TTP.

 

Do I need to refer and patients onto any specialist services?

All secondary care referrals are completed by the Lung Cancer Screening Team.
