Advice to GP (Primary Care) following the lung health check appointment
The Lung Health Check team will action
- Smoking Cessation brief intervention
- Smoking Cessation referral
- COPD review and optimisation
- Referral to Spirometry for symptomatic patients (excluding patients with known COPD or who have had diagnostic spirometry in the last 3 years)
- Wirral – ifthe lung cancer screening team has referred the patient to spirometry, GPs are required to prescribe salbutamol inhaler and spacer device
- Southport and Formby - if the patient requires spirometry, GPs are required to refer the patient to the local spiro using ERS. The lung health check outcome letter can be attached.
NB: All referrals are made on behalf of the GP.
If the patient reports current symptoms during the LHC, the team will advise the patient to make an appointment with you to discuss these symptoms further.
