About

Dr Modi a Senior UK and Canada trained Cardiologist, with over 30 years’ experience. His initial training was in Newcastle upon Tyne and further training undertaken at renowned centres throughout the UK, Australia and Canada.  He specialises in investigation and treatment of all heart rhythm disorders and has a subspecialty interest in family screening and management of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and sudden adult death syndrome (SADS).

He specialises in the most up to date forms of catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF), supraventricular tachycardias (SVTs) including Wolff Parkinson White, AV nodal re-entry and atrial tachycardias/flutters as well as catheter ablation for ventricular arrhythmias including ectopics and ventricular tachycardia (VT).

He undertakes implantation of standard pacemakers, conduction system pacemakers, implantable defibrillators (ICD) and cardiac resynchronisation devices (CRT) as well as monitoring devices such as loop recorders (ILR/LINQ).

As part of his inherited cardiac conditions work he also has a extensive experience looking after patients with long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, catecholaminergic polymorphic VT (CPVT), arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM/ARVC) and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy as well as other rare heart disorders predisposing to sudden heart rhythm disturbance such as arrhythmic mitral annular dysjunction, arrhythmic coronary spasm and early repolarisation syndrome.

Dr Modi has also developed significant expertise in assessment and management of rare conditions such as cardiac tumours and autoimmune or infectious myocarditis (heart muscle inflammation) through his role as the regional specialist in myocardial biopsy.

Dr Modi is detailed, thorough and dedicated to his patients.  He treats all his patients with respect and compassion and spends time with patients ensuring they understand conditions and proposed treatments.

As well as an extensive portfolio of research publications in fields of heart rhythm disturbance and inherited cardiac conditions, Dr Modi is an avid teacher, trainer and sounding board to colleagues and juniors alike.
