Geoffrey Appleton

Group Non-Executive Director

Geoffrey joined Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital as a Joint Non-Executive Director in October 2025, having joined Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust in September 2024. 

He has held several high-profile positions in his hometown of St Helens, including Non-Executive Director and Deputy Chair of Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospital and Chair of the St Helens Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) - and is currently the independent chair of St Helens Cares Place Partnership Board, and Deputy Chair of the St Helens People's Board, a joined-up multi-agency approach to improve health outcomes and tackle inequalities in the borough.

Geoffrey is also the Joint Senior Independent Director for LUHFT and LWH.
