Patients say LHCH is TOP once again

Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital is once again the TOP hospital in the North of England and one of the best hospitals in the country for ‘overall patient experience’.

This is according to the Care Quality Commission’s 2021 National Inpatient Survey (published on 29th September 2022), which reviewed the experiences of patients from 134 NHS trusts who spent at least one night in hospital during November 2021.

The survey, which recognised LHCH as one of the TOP four trusts in the country, also showed LHCH to be the TOP trust in Cheshire and Merseyside and across the North West.

Each year patients are asked for their views on various aspects of their care, with trusts then listed in one of five categories - from ‘much better than expected’ down to ‘much worse than expected’ - based on the proportion of patients who responded positively compared to the average.

LHCH has been awarded the highest rating by the CQC of ‘much better than expected’ compared to the national average, with an outstanding ‘overall experience’ score of 9.17 out of 10.

As well as receiving the TOP score in the North West for 15 survey questions and three categories (hospital and ward; nurses; overall patient experience) LHCH also scored particularly highly in each of the areas highlighted below:
