Best Cardiac Services

Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust reaffirmed its reputation for high quality healthcare, after winning the ‘Best Cardiac Services’ Award at the Advancing Quality Awards 2013.

The inaugural event, at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester, recognised and showcased the achievements of NHS trusts that have put the Advancing Quality approach into practice.

The Advancing Quality programme, now in its sixth year, aims to improve the standards of healthcare provided in NHS hospitals across the North West of England. It focuses on several clinical areas affecting patients in the region, including heart attacks, heart bypass surgery and heart failure.

Jane Tomkinson, Chief Executive at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, said: “We are delighted that this Advancing Quality Award once again underlines the exceptional cardiac services that we provide to our patients across the region. 
  
“It also reflects our commitment to working in partnership with the Advancing Quality Alliance, to ensure that we continue delivering the highest standards of healthcare, as well as sharing best practice with other North West trusts.”

She added: ““This award is testimony to all of our staff who work so hard to ensure that our services are safe, caring and responsive to the needs of our patients and their families.”

Liz Kanwar, Advancing Quality Programme Manager, who presented the award said: “Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital has consistently achieved outstanding results, in particular for the heart bypass surgery metrics. They have embraced new measures and assisted in the development of the AQ metric pathway making this Best Performing Trust award very much well deserved.”

Andy Beaumont and Dave Walker from the Clinical Quality Team at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital received the award on behalf of the Trust.
