John was forced to retire as a Principal Officer in Local Government at the age of 60 due to COPD (severe emphysema). Since his retirement he has been a Patient Representative for the British Lung Foundation and Chairman of Breathe Easy Sefton North. He has also been a Healthwatch member and served on their Enter & View Team.
He is a member of the PLACE (Patient Lead Assessment of the Care Environment) team for Merseycare. He sits on the Sefton CCG Community Respiratory Team steering group.
John says “I know that the voice of an expert patient contributes towards the provision of health care. Having had operations at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital I know the wonderful service they provide.”
