Our aim is to ensure we provide a clean, safe hospital to our patients, families, staff and visitors. Our Domestic Services play a vital role in preventing infection and ensuring the hospital is clean. Our staff are a highly trained, dedicated and motivated “in house” team committed to ensuring we achieve and exceed the national cleaning standards. We know how important a clean hospital is to our patient, their families and our staff.

There are rigorous monitoring processes in place to audit cleanliness across the Trust and the results are presented to the Infection prevention committee.
In 2015, the results of the Care Quality Commission's National Inpatient Survey showed that patients had rated the cleanliness of wards at LHCH as the top in the country. This is a direct result of our team's drive, determination and enthusiasm to ensure the hospital environment is clean and safe for every patient and their families, every day.
The domestic services works closely with the Infection Prevention and Control Team, Matrons and ward staff to monitor cleanliness and help prevent the spread of infection within the Trust.
