CVD: Led Diagnostic Clinics

The Service

The Knowsley Community Cardiovascular Service One-Stop Clinics are based at Primary Care Resource Centres in Kirkby, Huyton, Halewood and Whiston.

Patients are referred to the service by their GP to undergo tests that may determine the cause of the problems that are troubling them and offered a treatment plan to benefit and improve their future health.

Patient Information

You will be seen by a member of the CVD team and may then require some routine tests.

You will then meet the Consultant who will ask you several questions, listen to your concerns and discuss the benefits of the tests and further procedures that need to be performed.

To enable an assessment of you as an individual, it is important you inform the doctor of any previous health problems, operations and allergies of which you are aware.  Please bring with you any medication that you are currently taking.

The feedback from the Consultant should take under an hour and after this initial consultation there should be no need for you to come back to the One-Stop Clinic.

About the Routine Tests

Tests are carried out at the clinic on the day of your appointment, at home recorded by yourself, or at a hospital of your choosing on a date that is convenient for you.

If you have a preference for your tests to be carried out by a male or female nurse, please speak to a member of staff on the day.

You may be asked to undertake one or more of the following routine tests:


When you experience your symptoms, place the device onto your.  This will allow a record of your heart's rhythm at the time.

Blood Pressure Monitoring

A small, portable, self-contained monitor is attached to a standard blood pressure cuff.  Usually worn for 24 hours, it allows for multiple recordings of your blood pressure during the day and night.

Electrocardiagram (ECG)

The rhythm and electrical activity of your heart is recorded.

Lung Function Test

Your lung capacity will be measured to see how much air you can breathe in and out and how well your lungs deliver oxygen to your blood.
