Heart and chest specialists to share expertise globally
The UK’s leading cardiothoracic specialist, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (LHCH), has announced plans to share its reputation for high quality clinical care and patient experience with a new global audience.
The Trust, which was the first specialist trust in the country to be rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, will for the first time showcase its services at Arab Health 2018 in Dubai, from January 29th to 1st February. It will then join a UK government trade mission to India to mark the 70th anniversary of the NHS.
With its long-held reputation as one the country’s top hospitals for overall patient care, as well as its national standing for clinical excellence and innovation, LHCH is aiming to use its expertise to help improve care for patients and organisations outside of the UK.
“In the past 12-18 months, LHCH has received increasing numbers of requests for help with international healthcare projects,” said Jane Tomkinson, Chief Executive at LHCH.
“We believe we can make a unique contribution to specialist cardiothoracic training and education, and also provide bespoke support in areas ranging from specialist hospital design or running heart and chest services, through to innovative developments such as setting up a robotic surgery programme.
“With the full support of NHS England and the Department for International Trade, we want to take our knowledge, expertise and our outstanding reputation for patient and family centred care, and help to deliver high quality healthcare and services on an international basis. This would be an undoubted success story for the NHS as well as for Liverpool.”
Arab Health is taking place from 29th January to 1st February 2018 at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre.
It is the largest gathering of healthcare and trade professionals in the Middle East and North Africa region. This year’s event is expected to welcome more than 4,200 exhibiting companies and 103,000 attendees from 150+ countries.
The Trust also has plans to visit China this year, to meet healthcare leaders and senior clinicians, as part of a programme supported by the British Embassy.
