Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science
The Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science (ICMS) is an exciting new innovation drawing on the combined clinical expertise of its founding partners, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (LHCH) and Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust (RB&HFT).
Supported by its academic partner Imperial College London, the Institute is the first of its kind in Europe, delivering clinical research programmes that translate directly into clinical practice.
Launched on 22nd September, the Institute aims to improve outcomes for patients with coronary heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmia, congenital and inherited heart disease, and diseases of the aorta and valves through ground breaking research.
Its mission:
To improve outcomes in cardiovascular medicine.
Its vision:
By 2016, we will have become a world leader in cardiovascular research, improving patient outcomes through advances in prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
