Council of Governors
The governance structure of the trust includes:
Our membership consists of staff and the general public, including our patients, their families and volunteers.
Members belong to either the public constituency (one of four classes – Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales or Rest of England and Wales) or the staff constituency. Members in these constituencies can vote to elect governors and can also stand for election themselves.
The Council of Governors comprises 25 governors. In addition to the elected governors, legislation requires that the Council of Governors has appointed representatives from key stakeholders, such as the local primary care trust and local authority. There is no difference in the responsibilities of an elected and an appointed governor.
The Chair of the Board of Directors is also the Chair of the Council of Governors. The Board of Directors comprises non-executive and executive directors and is responsible for the running of the trust and its performance. The work of the Board of Directors and Council of Governors is supported by the Trust Secretary.
